2020 Board of Directors Elections

As a financial cooperative, Hudson Valley Credit Union’s Board of Directors is comprised entirely of volunteers from among our membership. This year, the Nominating Committee has nominated the following four candidates for the three open positions in our Annual Election. Ballots will be sent to eligible voting members in late March. Final election results will be announced at the Annual Meeting on April 29, 2020.
 
Candidate #1 – Wesley J. Lee (Nominated by the Nominating Committee) 
Present & Past Work Experience
Currently Adjunct Assistant Professor of American History and American Government, Dutchess Community College. Previously Coordinator of Even Start Family Literacy and the After School programs for the Poughkeepsie City School District; Executive Director of the Greenburgh Housing Authority; Resident Initiative Coordinator for the Poughkeepsie Housing Authority; and a Supervisor at
Anderson School.
Education
Masters of Public Administration from Marist College. B.S. in Political Science from North Carolina A&T State in Greensboro, NC.
Credit Union Involvement
Member since 2008 using a variety of savings and loan products.
Civic Involvement
Founder of Save At Risk Children for Corporate America, Inc. (SARCA) in 1996 to help at risk youth turn their lives around and enter the work force. Current Board member of the Poughkeepsie Alliance, Day One Early Learning Community, and Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley. Member of the Dutchess Community College President's Advisory Committee and the Poughkeepsie Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., which is a credit union member through its Beyond the Dream Foundation account.
 
Candidate #2 – Noreen Hennessy (Nominated by the Nominating Committee)  
Present & Past Work Experience
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) working in public practice for over 45 years. NYS licensed. Currently with Passikoff, & Scott, CPA’s, Poughkeepsie. Member of New York State Society of CPA’s.
Education
NYS Certified Public Accountant. Accounting major, SUNY New Paltz. AAS Accounting, Dutchess Community College.
Credit Union Involvement
Chairman of the Board (2012 – present). Member of the Board of Directors (2007 - present). Member of the Compensation and Benefits Committee (2014 - present). Past Chair and member of the Policy and Governance Committee (2007-2012). Past Member of both the Supervisory Committee (2002-2012) and the Nominating Committee (2008-2010). Recognized as New York Credit Union Association’s (formerly CUANY) Outstanding Volunteer of the Year, 2018. Member since 1971, using Hudson Valley Credit Union as my primary financial institution.
Civic Involvement
Volunteering at Hudson Valley Credit Union since 2002. Eucharistic Minister of St. Denis Church. Life Member of St. Denis/St. Columba Altar Rosary Society. Past President and Past Secretary of The Beekman Lion’s Club.
 
Candidate #3 – Jayson Harrington (Nominated by the Nominating Committee)
Present & Past Work Experience
Chief Information Officer, Country-Wide Insurance Company. Joined Country-Wide in 2013 as Director of Information Technology. Over
15 years’ experience in Information Technology, including previous positions as Manager Global Property for Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc. and Systems Analyst for TRMI Systems Integration.
Education
AS in Computer Information System Management, Dutchess Community College. Computer Science courses at State University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA.
Credit Union Involvement
I have been a member since the credit union evolved from the IBM Credit Union, using a variety of savings and loan products.
Civic Involvement
Volunteer for Wappingers Central School District PTA.
 
Candidate #4 – Eamon Shanahan (Nominated by the Nominating Committee) 
Present & Past Work Experience
Attorney and compliance professional experienced with both the regulatory and private industry.  Former Director of the Equities Compliance Department, Equities Trading and Sales Trading for Citigroup. Other Citigroup positions included Senior Vice President, Fixed Income Compliance Department, NA Rates Trading and Sales Trading as well as Vice President, Equities Compliance Department, Derivatives Trading and Sales Trading. Previous positions include Compliance Analyst for Morgan Stanley and Senior Compliance Examiner for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). 
Education
J.D., New York Law School.  Member, New York State Bar. B.S., Business Administration, State University of New York College at Oswego.
Credit Union Involvement
Member – along with my family - since 2010 using a variety of savings, checking, and loan products.
Civic Involvement
Volunteer Firefighter, North Highlands Fire Department in Philipstown, NY.  Assistant softball coach, Philipstown Little League.

Nomination by Petition

In addition to the candidates nominated above, any member age 18 or older may petition for a position on the 2020 election ballot. Petition forms are available as of January 4, 2020 by calling 845.463.3011, option 1 ext. 3710. Your completed petition signed by 500 or more current members must be received by 5 pm ET on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at the Nominating Committee’s post office box. Solicitation of signatures on credit union property is not permitted and will invalidate a petition. Completed petitions will not be accepted at any HVCU office. No nominations will be permitted from the floor at the Annual Meeting.

Call for Supervisory Committee Volunteers
We are currently seeking volunteers to serve on the credit union’s Supervisory Committee. This committee is responsible for ensuring that the credit union is operating within government guidelines and regulations. It’s a busy position that requires thoroughness and attention to detail.
