CA$H Coalition Seeks Volunteers
The Hudson Valley CA$H Coalition and AARP Foundation Tax-Aide are looking for volunteers who can become certified tax preparers to help local, low and moderate-income individuals, families, and seniors get the refunds and credits they are eligible to receive. If you have prepared personal income taxes in the past and are looking for a rewarding way to volunteer, consider helping the Coalition this coming tax season. Free training is provided, and other volunteer roles including tax site greeters, administrative, and IT support are also available.
The Hudson Valley CA$H Coalition is a group of organizations dedicated to helping families and individuals in the Hudson Valley save money and improve their financial stability. Increase your own personal talents while helping your local community by volunteering for the Hudson Valley CA$H Coalition and AARP Foundation Tax-Aide. Volunteers get a great deal of satisfaction from helping people prepare their taxes to get the refunds and credits they may not have realized were available to them.
As a volunteer tax preparer, you will review client documentation, interview the client, and prepare federal and state income tax returns using computer software. Free comprehensive training is provided in tax law procedures, preparing tax forms, and using tax preparation software. Candidates must be available during daytime hours to attend six days of training. Training for all volunteer roles takes place in the fall of 2019 or early 2020.
Tax sites are open through April 2020 and are likely located in or near your town. Volunteers must commit to at least four hours once a week at their assigned site during tax season, with flexibility of hours, including weekdays, weekends, or evenings.
