Hudson Valley Credit Union Social Media Policy

The following terms apply to any participation in social media sites maintained by Hudson Valley Credit Union (HVCU). These sites include HVCU’s Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter pages, as well as similar online forums in which the Credit Union may participate in the future.

HVCU invites the public–both members and non-members—to participate in its social media platforms. To ensure these open forums remain positive and civil, the following content as determined by HVCU is prohibited and will be promptly removed:

  • Offensive language or photographs
  • Personal attacks and defamatory comments
  • Non-HVCU advertisements
  • Spam
  • HTML and URL links
  • Content which encourages or condones illegal or unethical activity
  • Off-topic comments that diverge from the theme of the forum or particular discussion thread
  • Personal, confidential, or proprietary information

HVCU may remove any content from its online forums at its sole and unrestricted discretion. Violators of this policy may be blocked from positing additional content. Depending on the circumstances, HVCU may report the violator to the administrator of the forum or to law enforcement officials.

Any content submitted on HVCU’s online forums becomes the property of HVCU. By posting on HVCU’s forums, you agree that HVCU may use the content for any purpose without consideration or payment.

HVCU employees posting on its online forums do so in their individual capacities, not as representatives of HVCU. Only the site manager or her/his designee may utilize HVCU’s social media accounts and post content on behalf of HVCU. In addition to the provisions of this policy, employees shall adhere to the policies expressed in the HVCU employee handbook, as well as any directives issued by supervisors.

HVCU may amend this policy at any time. Participants use HVCU online forums at their own risk and acknowledge that HVCU cannot prevent every violation of this policy. HVCU does not assume responsibility for any direct or consequential damages which may result from unauthorized or inappropriate posts.
